Please stick around until the end for a very good offer (well, I think)but, just a few quick things before I go on:
1. I saw an image of a 1 thebe coin today. Made me feel so nostalgic. Just saying.
2. You recall that in my previous post (https://www.facebook.com/redzebrawe.../posts/173930037595601) I mentioned a web-host asking me for scans of my card. Well, it cost me some money to scan but the image provided is from a print-out I made at the time as a reminder, as well as my some scribbling personal notes right on it. A page right out of non-history folks.
Okay so we were discussing what I'm going to do in the meantime and I decided on two things:
1. Blogging
This is mainly to stop me from being depressed and to keep me doing something in the meantime. It'll also get people to know about my opinions and rediscover who I am (gulp). You can see my first post at: facebook.com/notes/desmond-nel/first-post-test-and-some-quick-thoughts/10164057282440459
2. Computer Graphics
This was somewhat of a tough one for me. I actually like doing this as a hobby and I don't subscribe to the idea that one should necessarily do what one is passionate about. That's why I wanted to start a webstore; make a living, close the doors at 5, and enjoy my leisure time. The reason this may actually work for me is my dual nature. On the one hand I can be super mature, talking about grocery buying strategies, savings accounts, and things of that nature.
But that's really me TRYING MY UTMOST to adult. There are times though... that like a monkey on a ship (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arj7oStGLkU), I can push very necessary, very real issues aside for... trivial pursuits. I'm not evil, I don't do this consciously, or on purpose, it's always been my nature, and I've always tried to fight it. With my previous job it was sort of good that my boss could be quite harsh. I would also try to get as much work stuff done during office time as possible. To do this I had lists that I would update, like every three weeks or so. I got into this also because of reading both David Allen's 'Getting things Done', and 'The 7 Habits', particularly the section on 'the Four Quadrant Time Management Matrix'.
Yeah, my point was, this may actually work for me. Maybe.
So What About Red Zebra?
You recall again that in my previous post (https://www.facebook.com/redzebrawe.../posts/173930037595601)I discussed closing down the business account. But not, like, as a discussion, I was in the process of doing it. We went to the bank, the lady helping us was very friendly and helpful. And it turned out to be a process to close. Not the biggest process or the biggest hassle ever, but enough to get us talking.
Whilst writing the previous post, I had considered selling the business, I spoke of this again, and, we decided to sell the business WITH THE BANK ACCOUNT, WITH THE MONEY IN IT. Not so much free money, as, maybe, included money. Something in the account to start off with, as it were.
Now, before I give an asking price, I'd like to present an idea. I see quite a few Batswana posting about putting money together for a business and I think this is a pretty good business for that sort of thing. My suggestion is that, say, somewhere between 7 and 11 people put money together for this business. I'll get into the choice of those particular numbers towards the end of this post.
This is the breakdown of what you'll get:
Full support and cooperation from me until the process is complete and for a while afterward
About 6 months webhosting or so WITH SSL CERTIFICATE, regardless whether you change the nature of the business worth about P 600 or so
An extra year on the domain name red-zebra.co.bw, worth about P 200
Logos, at least two (value about P 160 or so)
Website Analytics
Employees or Independent Contractors, or basic salary with commission, whatever your preference
Certificate of Incorporation
Free marketing in the form of Facebook and Pinterest pages; there is JUST ENOUGH interest that people are reached, without there being a potential backlash from rebranding
A supplier starter list
The bank account, I wanted to discuss separately. There are supposed to be no charges, though P 1 000 must remain in the bank (it's already in there), and the account acts as a savings, accumulating money after P 10 000. There is no cheque book, but there is a card and it is PayPal compatible.
I want to sell for P 11 000, but I am willing to negotiate down. My idea is that 8 people give me about
P 1 000 each, one person gives me P 1 250 and becomes the CFO and bank account co-signer on behalf of the other eight or four of them at least. P 1 750 could come from the last person being the CEO. The CEO and CFO and any shareholder actively involved in the running of the business could receive a salary, while the other eight would receive an annual dividend.
If they put in another P 11 000 to stay in the account, the account can then start to accumulate interest. They can the put in another P 10 000 or so for the running of the business. If we say the share total would be P 32 000, then it would be 3 200 000 thebe. Divide that by 5 thebe and you have a share split of 640 000 shares.
Now, the company having more than 7 shareholders, if it wanted to raise more capital and didn't wan t to apply for a CEDA loan or something, they could apply for an IPO. Just a thought.
Anyway, that was, I think, my last post on Red Zebra.
Comments are very welcome, offers are highly welcome.
Have a good weekend friends.
