Your Quick Guide to NFTs

Nuts - the only thing that shows up for NFTs in 'Royalty Free Images'

Update: I've written an FAQ on NFTs on my Quora at: redshoelaces2.quora.com

I was thinking about writing about the Blockchain, Crypto, Ethereum, and NFTs (NFT artwork rather), but what prompted me to rush the article was that I was in a Facebook group and someone mentioned not making money for a while and I mentioned NFTs, then I decided to rush this article. So... anyway...

Avoid Punks - Do What you'd pay Money for?

A big thing in NFTs right now are punks - pixelated low-res images of e.g. Rastas, though there are quite a few different ones out right now. I'd say avoid them:

1. The market is saturated

2. That bubble is going to burst at some point

Instead, maybe look at your current portfolio. See what has potential, what you can redo. Mostly, what you'd actively want to part with your money for.

One area that's unlikely to go away soon is surreal art.

Format Guidelines and Software

There are no real format rules per se, but you want to create two pieces of artwork. One higher res., perhaps moving like a GIF or even a short film. The other will be a single low res image. I've read at least one person recommend 3000 x 3000 with 300 dpi, just be sure your system can handle it.

Your lower res. image should be... lower resolution. You can reduce the size, quickly pixellate the image, and even reduce the number of colour with software such as Krita. However, I came across a great, free, piece of software called Real World Paint that allows 1 click pixellation. Even better, it's dead easy to add a watermark to your image.

Getting the Image out There

Originally I was going to write about Mintable, but while redoing my research, I came across this video on Youtube:

Basically, it shows you how to Mint NFTs gas free on OpenSea. You're welcome.

Free NFTs and Other Novel Uses

Most of the people 'into this' are selling and they often give away their first artwork free to get interest from people. However, my mind was immediately open to the possibilities. What about Crowdfunding perks. What about NFT STLs (3D printing file format)? What about QR codes? What else could you do?
