What my Collection is About
Up until now I've been keeping fairly tight lipped about the idea for my collection but, as I am getting closer to minting the first part of my collection soon, the time has come to discuss especially the finer points of the collection, the collection as a whole, and how this all came about.
Ok, so, I had written a guide on NFTs on this very blog, based on the fact that, as little as I knew, some people knew even less, and there is a lot of interest in this right now. Also, it needs be said, quite a few things I spoke about have since come to pass, like people becoming tired of pixel art.
So, slowly, I started posting more on the Facebook forums, more on my blog and Facebook page, answering questions as best I could, and asking them. With that, I started getting people contacting. Some had legit businesses and portfolios and offered to pay my gas fees even! All this without even a preview of any artwork!!
Anyway, fired up the PC, did some experimentation... then all of a sudden ideas started gelling, coming together, a narrative and more. This post delves into how I approached this idea as both a gamer (one of my old favourites was Diablo), as a 3D artist (almost everything is mostly symmetrical with the tiniest asymmetry added back in), but also to some degree as a writer.
The part of the collection I'll be minting very soon has a very Asian theme to it almost all the way. The nose and lips were taken from an asian glamour model and the eyelids from a different Asian actress. Also, instead of using typical RPG health potions like I was going to, I posterised and pixellated an inro (large version looked like it was out of 'Realms of the Haunting'), which is a type of hard segmented carrying case used by Japanese people in the old days to carry things like perfume, family seals, and medicine (To quote the ninja Wiki: To stop bleeding, bits of a charred wren would be placed on one's tongue or gohasso powder, made from a charred mamushi snake, would be sprinkled on the bleeding wound. On the other hand, pine ash and aucuba leaf could also be used to stop bleeding if placed on a wound.). There's also a narrative which... I'll let you see if you can spot.
In the end, the artwork reminded me of something from a late 90s/early 200os dance/techno/rave music video.

This part of the collection is not for sale, but you will have a chance to invest in it and make some crypto, and I will be putting later parts of the collection and other collections, out there for sale.
